Getting help

One address, answered by the person who wrote the firmware. No ticket portal, no phone tree, no account required to ask a question.

Expect a reply within two working days, usually sooner. We are in Ireland (UTC+1 in summer, UTC in winter), so a message sent from North America in the afternoon is typically answered the following morning your time. If something is time critical — you are in a field and stopped — say so in the subject line and it gets pulled to the front.

Before the pilot batch ships

Hardware is not shipping yet, so today's support is mostly pre-purchase questions, and they are welcome:

  • "Is my location covered by Northing RTK?" Send a rough location — a town is enough, coordinates are better if you are near a zone edge — and you will get a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. The coverage guide has the map and states the gaps.
  • "Will it work with the app I already use?" Tell us which one. The Bluetooth protocol is published and any app can adopt it; whether a specific app has done so yet is a different question and we will not guess in your favour.
  • "Is this accurate enough for what I do?" Describe the work — moving or stationary, and what "good enough" means in centimeters. The honest answer is sometimes that the free Northing Global mode already covers you and you do not need the subscription.
  • Developer and SDK questions. Also this address, until the developer documentation site exists.

Start with the guides

These answer most of what comes in, in more depth than an email reply can:

  • How Northing RTK works — what a correction stream does, how it reaches the receiver through your phone, and the measured numbers behind "fixed in seconds".
  • Northing RTK coverage — where the subscription works, and the gaps stated as plainly as the coverage.
  • RTK vs PPP — the difference between instant centimeters and patient decimeters, and which one your work actually needs.
  • Inside the receiver — what the hardware does, what it refuses to do, and how updates avoid bricking it.

Once you own one

This page grows into real troubleshooting content from real tickets rather than invented ones. What already exists in the product: signed over-the-air updates that roll themselves back if an update misbehaves, a browser-based recovery flasher for the worst case, and a diagnostics bundle the app can generate and email so support questions start with data instead of a description.

Billing and privacy

Nothing is being charged yet — the pilot batch takes no payment until units ship. When it does, charges appear as Oran Dynamics, the company behind Northing. To have your waitlist signup deleted, email the address above; what is stored and for how long is set out in the privacy notice.

Not on the list yet? One email when the pilot batch opens, nothing else.
